Vermont is my favorite state to be in. For years I was spoiled living around Burlington, VT taking in the beautiful fall foliage from the top of Mount Mansfield and knowing I’d only be given real authentic maple syrup no matter what restaurant I went to. I loved cozying up in my Green Mountain flannel while apple picking at Shelburne Farms with friends and watching some of the best sunsets I’ve ever seen sitting on my paddle board on Lake Champlain. You can imagine my excitement when Maddy and Tom told me they wanted to have a Vermont engagement session in Ludlow with views of the Green Mountains.
This was an extra fun shoot for me since I knew Maddy and Tom in college. In fact I met Tom during the WOW (Wilderness Orientation Weekend) for freshman the summer before starting at Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, VT. Then I got to spend more time getting to know him when we both signed up for a camping and rock climbing trip with the Saint Michael’s Adventure Sports Center in Acadia National Park, Maine.
Fast forward a few years and you can find this wilderness power couple skiing at Park City Mountain in Utah and hanging with their dog Aspen. Tom officially popped the question on March, 14th (pie day fans) in the Wasatch Mountains while taking Maddy snowmobiling for the first time. She may or may not have felt the ring in his pocket when she went to jokingly nudge him on the way, but she played it cool. I can’t wait to be their Vermont wedding photographer for their fall celebration in Ludlow and see Maddy rock her Birkenstocks!
