WHAT DOES A PROPOSAL PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION INCLUDE?
By booking me as your proposal photographer my services go way beyond just showing up and taking photos. I help each proposer pick out the best locations lighting wise and I create a detailed game plan with loads of tips so you can enjoy proposal day to the fullest. Since I communicate a lot with my proposers, I can’t take last minute proposal bookings (we’ll need a minimum of 3 days to go over everything for a successful proposal session). WHAT DAYS DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH PROPOSALS?
I photograph proposals Monday-Thursday during wedding busy season May-October. If you are proposing in my wedding off season November-April, I may have Friday-Sunday availability.
WHAT TIME DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH SURPRISE PROPOSALS?
To get the most flattering light I photograph surprise proposal sessions within 90 minutes after sunrise or 90 minutes before sunset. That way you don’t have to squint with the sun, it won’t create deep shadows under your eyes, and it has the dreamiest golden light!
DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH PROPOSALS INDOORS?
Nope! I utilize lots of natural light for my photography so I only photograph outdoor proposals.
HOW MUCH IS A SURPRISE PROPOSAL PHOTOGRAPHER?
This one really depends on where you live, if you’re having the photographer travel somewhere to capture the moment, and if the photographer specializes in surprise proposal photography. If you don’t want someone to help you pick a location, make sure you know exactly where to stand based on lighting, give you suggestions on what to wear, and overall proposal tips- then obviously you can find someone who is cheaper, but your photos might not be the best they can be (and you can’t redo the genuine moment). HOW TO FIND A SURPRISE PROPOSAL PHOTOGRAPHER?
Not every engagement photographer is a proposal photographer, so instead of searching for an engagement photographer in your area I’d google “surprise proposal photographer” or “proposal photographer” for your desired location to find a photographer who specializes in these sessions.
SHOULD YOU HIRE A PHOTOGRAPHER FOR A PROPOSAL?
This one is totally up to you! I’d chat about it together before you make the decision to hire a proposal photographer. Some people love the camera and really want photos of their reactions and some portraits after. Others would rather have a more private moment of just the two of you, so double check this is something your partner would want!
WHERE ARE YOU BASED? DO YOU TRAVEL FOR PROPOSAL SESSIONS?
I am based in Massachusetts so I predominantly capture proposals in Boston & Cape Cod. There are no travel fees for locations within 2 hours from where I live. If you’d like me to capture your proposal in another New England state over 2 hours from me or fly to a beautiful destination in the US, then there will be additional travel fees. This way I can arrive the day before proposal day to scout around the proposal location!
THIS WILL BE MY FIRST TIME IN THE AREA, HOW WILL I FIND OUR PROPOSAL SPOT?
I’ll send you the address, detailed photos of where I’ll be/you’ll pop the question, and in most cases a video of the walking route on how to get there.
WHAT IF IT RAINS ON PROPOSAL DAY?
New England weather always changes so I start paying attention to the forecast about 48 hours before a session. Anything more than 48 hours before I don’t pay attention at all haha and then when we are in the shorter window I start looking at the forecast and watching the weather radar. If it’s showing rain we have a couple options!
1. If it was showing a total washout and you could be flexible with your date/I had availablity we could change the date to a nicer day.
2. If it was showing some rain scheduled during our set proposal time we could move it earlier or later in the day to catch a window where it wasn’t raining. I don’t ever book two shoots in a day, so that date is entirely yours for us to be flexible!
3. Lastly if you still wanted that exact date and time we would just embrace the rain. Sometimes people already have a bunch of reservations made or are only visiting the location so that date & time we picked was their only option. Lucky for you being a wedding photographer for 10 years I do have experience photographing a wedding day in the rain so your photos will still look beautiful. Rainy sessions can be super fun & romantic- I bring along my cute clear umbrellas for you to stay dry!

HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL WE RECEIVE?
I believe in quality over quantity so you can expect on average a minimum of 50 images per hour.
HOW DO YOU DESCRIBE YOUR EDITING STYLE?
To give your images that timeless look, my editing style is vibrant & true to color. By not following a trend, your images will have that classic look with a mix of some black & white photos in your gallery. You can check out my instagram for more of my work!

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR US TO RECEIVE OUR PROPOSAL IMAGES?
You’ll receive your images within 2 weeks max, but you’ll get some sneak peeks within 48 hours. I take time editing each individual photo with my vibrant/true to life editing style. I also include complimentary photoshop retouching of your images for magazine worthy photos! This includes things such as removing zits, flyaway hairs, apple watch tan lines, trash, and photobombers in the background of your photos.
WHAT TYPE OF IMAGES WILL I RECEIVE AND ARE THERE WATERMARKS?
You’ll receive the high resolution edited jpegs in your online gallery and I never watermark the images.
HOW DO I RECEIVE MY PROPOSAL GALLERY?
Your proposal gallery will be uploaded to an online gallery site that is password protected. It’s super user friendly and you can download your images with one click! You are more than welcome to share this link with anyone you’d like. That way family members can download photos of themselves too. It links to a professional printing lab, but you aren’t obligated to order prints through me. If you’d like to print your photos elsewhere that is totally fine (I’ll give you a print release in case a lab wants to see it). There are never any watermarks on your images.
I WANT TO GO ALL OUT FOR MY PROPOSAL, WHAT VENDORS CAN YOU RECOMMEND ME?
I’ll give you the names of florists that do setups, content creators who can film your proposal on their phone, proposal planners, luxury picnic setups, and instrumentalists.
I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO WEAR, CAN YOU HELP ME?
Absolutely! After booking, I send you wardrobe tips with photo examples of outfits that photograph really well. If you’re in between outfits you can always send me a photo of each option you’re considering and I will let you know which one I think is the best!
HOW DO I BOOK YOU FOR MY PROPOSAL?
You’ll reach out in my contact form with your desired date, coverage time (30 minutes or 1 hour) and a general location to see if I’m available. After that, I’ll send you the proposal (contract & invoice) for you to sign & pay and then you’ll be officially blocked off on my calendar! The first 50% is due upon signing the contract and the final payment is due on proposal day.

ABOUT THE COUPLE FEATURED
Anshul and Damini’s surprise proposal session took place at Mayflower Beach in Dennis, Massachusetts.
Anshul reached out to me about capturing his surprise proposal to Damini in early March. I worked with him on selecting the best time for his proposal, which Cape beaches have the best sunset views, and connected him with Hira of Verde Floral Designs to create a beautiful floral setup. She worked with Anshul and incorporated orange colors in the floral design like the sunset- Damini’s favorites!
These two lovebirds met after Damini’s aunt recommended she meet Anshul. Fast forward to today and these two have conquered long distance for over a year and a half while Anshul lives in Georgia and Damini lives in Massachusetts. He knew how much Damini loved the Cape, so it was only fitting to take a weekend getaway to the Cape and propose on the beach!
Per my local recommendations, after their session with me they went off to celebrate at Scargo Cafe and back to their weekend getaway accommodations at the Pelham House Resort.
